Review: Shell and Liner by The HEAT Company

Especially when shooting outdoors in the cold solid equipment is essential. This doesn't only mean warm shoes and a thick jacket, but also the right gloves to keep your hands warm.

I've go to test the Layer System by the austrian brand The HEAT Company and after about two months of use in Norway I'm ready for a first result.
For photography trips in winter and cold regions I wear the Tactility Liner as base-layer and the Shell. With these two layers I'm able to handle my camera equipment and my hands are protected from low temperatures at the same time. Above all, the handling of this Layer System is pure fun with all these clever features. I don't even have to take off the Shell because you can evert the front part of the glove to expose your fingers. With elastic straps the gloves can be perfectly adjusted to your hands. And if you need an extra dose of warmth, you can attach heat pads to the gloves. Your feet don't have to freeze either, because there are also special heat pads to be inserted into your boots.

Talking about gear for photographers, one important issue is durability. As we're often shooting in harsh and rough conditions, the gloves experience all kinds of weather such as snow, rain, hail and wind. In order to give the best protection possible, high-quality standards are a must. This is definitely a strong point of products by The HEAT Company! Heat capacity, handling and manufacturing are all top-level.

In the end I have to say that I'm very happy about products like these because they make hard trips easier, more comfortable and so much more enjoyable!
